Saints Still Winless

The New Orleans Saints are 0-4. To demonstrate how bad the Saints’ defense truly is, here are Drew Brees’ season stats: 1,350 yards passing (1st in the NFL), 110 completions (2nd in the NFL), 191 attempts (1st in the NFL), 10 touchdowns (3rd in the NFL). The point is that a team that has a fantasy football for money superstar throwing the ball around for them shouldn’t be 0-4 under any circumstances.

The Saints’ season is over, but for those who own Brees in fantasy football for money the season is just beginning. Yes, Brees has five interceptions on the season (as if that could counter all of the other monster numbers that he’s putting up), but Brees is only getting better. On Sunday against a pass defense that was ranked 1st in the NFL heading into week three, Brees threw for a mind-boggling 446 yards and three touchdowns on 35 of 54 passing. Also, it was the first game of the season that Brees did not turn the ball over.

It’s been speculated before and it’s probably true. The awful defense that the Saints are playing right now may be as much of a benefit as anything for Brees in fantasy football for money. If the Saints’ defense keeps playing the way they’re playing, Brees will keep throwing the ball almost 50 times a game like he’s averaging right now. And if a quarterback as good as Brees is throwing 50 passes a game, he’s going to wind up being the best quarterback in fantasy football for money this season.

His three main targets will make out all right too. Marques Colston busted out and had his best outing of the year thus far reeling in nine catches for 153 yards and his first touchdown of the year. Graham already has 24 catches for 248 yards and three touchdowns on the season, and Lance Moore has 19 catches for 287 yards and two touchdowns through four games.
